The  Role:

We have an opportunity to recruit a Senior Credit Analyst to join the Scoring & Modelling Team within Risk & Analytics.  Risk is a central function and is key to the strategic direction of our business.  This is a challenging and highly rewarding role. You'll build and monitor models that will be used across the business to maximise profit, achieve credit loss targets and deliver capital efficiency. You will;

Provide support and expert advice to business areas where queries arise regarding the impact of risk decisions on customer and portfolio behaviour
Development and regular monitoring of scorecards and key performance indicators to inform business decisions.
Development and regular monitoring of Basel II component models (Probability of Default, Exposure at Default and Loss Given Default).
Produce and interpret credit risk management information to monitor the impact of risk decisions on customer and portfolio behaviour
Build and maintain good working relationships with key business stakeholders
Provide specialist skills and knowledge to business projects

The Team:

The M&S Money Scoring & Modelling team work closely with other sites across the HSBC Group and you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills further through sharing best practices with your peers in HSBC, First Direct and HFC.  There are other development opportunities available, including the M&S Money STAR programme which is designed to recognise talent and support development to equip you for future career moves.

Essential Requirements: (Please request role profile for full details)

  • Evidence of high performance in roles to date, plus good levels of academic achievement ( ideally up to degree level with a statistical degree preferred)
  • Evidence of adding commercial value / driving improvements
  • Experience of creating models and reviewing strategies / analysing data, using statistical tools (ideally SAS, SQL or equivalent) plus advanced Excel
  • Excellent  verbal and written communications skills, particularly in the context of presenting complex analytical results to non-technical colleagues at all levels
  • Financial services awareness and understanding of financial metrics
