The Financial Services (FS) team within IT Advisory consists of over 180 client facing staff based in the key locations of London, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The role often involves working on high profile projects providing advice to some of the best known names in the FS sector. The work can be exciting and varied and may range from an advisor running a workshop for a client to provide focus on a particular IT related issue, through to working with a large, multi-disciplinary, client and KPMG team providing long term support to a major change programme.
Our clients include a wide range of FS organisations including retail banks, investment banks, insurance companies and fund managers as well as a variety of organisation providing services to the sector.
The Role
This role is within the IT Systems Assurance team within Financial Services IT Advisory.

The Role
This role is within the IT Systems Assurance team within Financial Services IT Advisory.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities attributable to this role will include some or all of the following:
- Delivering value added advice and assurance to clients
- Conducting fieldwork and managing small project teams in delivery of assurance and advisory assignments
- Assisting with scoping, financial management, managing delivery risk, production and initial review of deliverables
- Building and managing senior client relationships (typically CIO level) across a number of financial services clients
- Actively identifying and progressing business development opportunities, as well as managing sales activities such as proposal writing and assisting with client presentations
- Managing a service line, reporting to the service line leader on service development, sales and delivery.
- Developing internal networks and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues across KPMG, but in particular in the wider IT Advisoryand Financial Sector Advisory areas
- Coaching and developing team members on engagements.
- Contributing to practice management, eg training, knowledge management
The Individual
Successful candidates will display a combination of the following:
- Proven experience of successfully delivering IT advisory and assurance services to the financial services industry within a consulting firm or Big 4.
- IT background - IT service delivery, IT project management, IT risk management and IT-related qualifications including ITIL, Prince2 / PMP.
- Degree/masters qualification in IT or equivalent.
- A good understanding of technology platforms.
- Experience of core financial services systems - including transaction processing and financial ledger systems.
- Experience in business analysis and requirements gathering, and understanding of core business processes within financial services
- Recognised accounting / auditing (eg CISA) qualification.
- Experience in an IT risk and control / audit environment
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and first rate interpersonal skills at all levels.
- Ability to present on specific subjects to a large group of people (internal staff or clients/potential clients).
- Ability to identify and assess complex IT risks and controls, to relate them to the wider business environment and to express opinions clearly to all levels.
- Proven experience in identifying and converting sales opportunities.
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop excellent client and internal relationships.
- Ability to deliver work within tight timescales, to budget and to a high quality.
- Strong team player but able to work on own initiative.
- Demonstrable Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
